Memorial Day Bloggin

I will start this post by picking up where I left off on the last blog.

Cooper hates chicken and rice. So far it is the only food that he will actually spit out. He does enjoy turkey and vegetables mashed together that form a nice orange hue. The orange food group is a good one. Jax, Tic Tacs, orange cheese. He's catching on early. Aimee has been tirelessly homemaking baby food for him and now we have found that the things he likes best are store bought in a jar.

Cooper has hit lots of milestones during the past two weeks.
1. First tooth! It's a pointy one on the bottom.
2 . Pulled himself up to standing position using my leg as a crutch.
3. Blows rasberries or zerbert. Not sure of the technical name for the ability to make your lips vibrate but he loves it. He especially enjoys doing it while eating.
4. Waving. This is still a skill I have only seen done first hand one time. Aimee insists that he does it lots when I'm not home. He hasn't waved to one of us yet but he's waved to his grammy, other babies, and our mailman.

He is still not crawling but he has become very adept at squirming around on the floor to get different things of interest to him. We are quite happy that he is still not crawling as our apartment is the opposite of baby proof. Aimee was recently sharing a checklist she found in a magazine of about 10 areas that should be covered to consider your home baby proof. We scored zero out of ten. It is not that we are neglectful parents. It is that our apartment is not built for a baby. It's a city apartment that was created for those that enjoy their local watering holes to be a stones throw away, public transit, and don't mind the occasional splinter in their foot due to old, cracking hardwood floors. Cooper loves the city though along with all the characters he meets in Davis Sq. and the Cambridge area. We are hopeful that we will be moved out of our small apartment before he starts crawling or even walking when the lack of baby proofing becomes a real issue.

Things that make me dry heave...

Peaches, carrots, sweet potatoes, and chick peas.

I put up with apples and peas, but avocado is probably my favorite.

Now that Cooper's GI Doc has confirmed that he is intolerant to corn, dairy, and soy we have increased his solid food intake. We are mainly filling him up with rice cereal and oatmeal because those are the only two foods that we have found that do not make him dry heave and give his whole body the shivers. Last week we introduced him to these tiny rice crackers and this morning he found out about rice puffs. The rice puffs look just like Honey Smacks but taste more like a brown paper bag.
