After all of our talk of moving out of Massachusetts we have finally done it. We've been living in Yarmouth, ME for close to 3 weeks now and a sense of normalcy is slowly beginning to arrive.
It's taken about a full week but we finally have Cooper back sleeping mostly through the night. I will use “mostly” lightly. When we first moved he reverted to the Cooper of old and was waking 3-4 times a night. Now he’s making it through the night but feels 4AM is a great time to start the day.
Cooper seems to be really taking a liking to island and country life. He has spent the majority of his days up here outside. He loves playing in our yard, watching the turkeys that visit every morning and night, riding on my back in the nature preserve, swimming, and has even testing his sea legs in our kayaks. I’m sure he misses swimming in the 3 gallon Home Depot bucket that we left in Somerville but the ocean is not a bad second.
Cooper’s first real big country experience was a recent trip to a working farm. Cooper got to pet a cow, pig, bunny, goat, and even chickens. He thought they were all hilarious even after a chicken walked right up and pecked his belly. I even got my country legs going. Milked my first cow! This is a family blog so I will not get into all the hilariousness associated with udders and milking.
Besides moving and getting his own room, Cooper’s newest adventure is day care. He goes to day care at this woman’s house and he seems to love it. There are a couple of other kids there for him to play with. His favorite activities while there so far have been pushing a walker around the yard, playing in the sand and water tables, and laughing and chasing the day care owner’s dog. So far so good with day care. We will keep our fingers crossed. Aimee’s separation anxiety is the only side effect from Cooper’s days away from home.
I know it’s been a long time since the last blog update. Since we’ve moved to the country we’ve been living in what closely resembles the stone ages. No internet or cable for close to 3 weeks. Life definitely moves at a slower pace in Maine. The cable company has been fixin’ to get our cable installed for the past three weeks. It will be nothing short of a miracle when we finally step back into the 21st century.
